Use the stool collection kit provided by your doctor or lab
Wash your hands before starting
Urinate first so the stool sample is not contaminated
Place a clean container, plastic wrap, or collection device under the toilet seat to catch the stool
Pass stool into the collection device without mixing it with urine, water, or toilet paper
Use the scoop or applicator from the kit to transfer a small amount of stool into the sample container
Fill the container only to the marked line if one is present
Close the container tightly
Label the container if instructed
Place the container in the provided bag or transport pouch
Wash your hands after collecting the sample
Deliver the sample to the lab as soon as possible
Follow any storage instructions from your doctor or lab if the sample cannot be delivered right away
