Wash your hands and gather the stool collection kit, gloves, and any labels provided
Read the kit instructions before starting
Urinate first so the stool sample is not contaminated
Place a clean disposable collection container, plastic wrap, or paper stool catcher over the toilet as directed by the kit
Pass stool into the collection device, avoiding contact with toilet water
Use the provided spatula or scoop to transfer the required amount of stool into the sample container
Fill the container only to the marked line if one is shown
Close the lid tightly
Label the container with your name, date, and time if required
Put the container in the provided bag or transport pouch
Store the sample as instructed, usually in the refrigerator unless told otherwise
Deliver the sample to the lab or clinic as soon as possible
Wash your hands thoroughly after finishing
