Check for a sulfur-like, rotten, or sour smell
Look for slimy, sticky, or unusual texture on the shell or egg white
Discard if the shell is cracked, leaking, or has visible mold
Cut it open and discard if the yolk or white looks green, gray, pink, or otherwise unusual
Discard if the egg has been left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours
Discard if it has been refrigerated for more than 1 week after cooking
If unsure, throw it out
