How to Put Down Sheet Vinyl Flooring?

Measure the room and buy enough sheet vinyl with a little extra for trimming

Remove the old flooring, baseboards if needed, and any nails, staples, or debris

Make sure the subfloor is clean, dry, flat, and smooth

Repair cracks, holes, and uneven spots in the subfloor

Let the sheet vinyl acclimate in the room if the manufacturer recommends it

Roll out the vinyl and position it to fit the room

Cut the vinyl roughly to size, leaving extra around the edges

Match the pattern or seams if using more than one piece

Fold back part of the vinyl if using adhesive

Apply the recommended adhesive to the subfloor with the proper trowel

Lay the vinyl back into the adhesive carefully

Smooth it from the center outward to remove air bubbles

Roll the floor with a flooring roller if recommended

Trim the edges neatly with a sharp utility knife

Cut around doorways, vents, and obstacles

Seal seams if required by the product

Reinstall baseboards or trim

Avoid heavy traffic until the adhesive has fully cured
