Sign the title exactly as required by the seller
Complete the buyer information on the title
Fill out the odometer disclosure if required
Complete a bill of sale if required
Remove the license plates if required by your state
Provide a lien release if there was a loan on the car
Give the buyer the signed title and any required documents
Have the buyer take the title and documents to the DMV or equivalent agency
Pay any required title transfer fees and taxes
Submit any required application for title and registration
Obtain new registration and plates if required
Keep copies of all signed documents for your records
