Place the scooter on a flat surface
Hold the handlebars with one hand
Locate the folding mechanism near the base of the steering column
Release the latch or safety lock
Lift the steering column upward until it locks into place
Make sure the stem is fully upright and secure
Check that the locking mechanism is engaged
Adjust the handlebars if needed
Test the scooter gently before riding
