Press the brake pedal
Pull up or engage the parking brake lever or switch
Make sure the parking brake indicator light is on
Shift the transmission into Park or into gear if driving a manual
Release the foot brake slowly
Before driving, press the brake pedal again
Disengage the parking brake fully
Confirm the parking brake indicator light turns off
