Meet the basic requirements: be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED
Enroll in an electrical training program, trade school, or apprenticeship
Complete on-the-job training under a licensed electrician
Register as an apprentice with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation if required by your program or employer
Gain the required work experience hours for the license level you want

Apply for the Texas electrician exam when eligible
Pass the required licensing exam

Continue gaining experience and training to advance to higher license levels
