How to Do Sourdough Starter?

Mix 50 g flour and 50 g water in a clean jar

Stir until no dry flour remains

Cover loosely and leave at room temperature

Wait 24 hours

Discard half of the starter

Feed with 50 g flour and 50 g water

Stir well and cover loosely

Repeat discard and feed every 24 hours

Keep at room temperature until it becomes bubbly and doubles in size

Use a consistent feeding schedule

Switch to twice-daily feedings if the starter rises and falls quickly

Continue feeding until the starter is active and ready to bake with

Store in the refrigerator after it is established

Feed before baking to refresh it
