Hide the pill in a small amount of soft food
Use a pill pocket or treat made for medication
Wrap the pill in cheese, peanut butter, or meat if safe for your dog
Hold the dog gently and open the mouth
Place the pill far back on the tongue
Close the mouth and hold it shut briefly
Stroke the throat or blow lightly on the nose to encourage swallowing
Offer a treat or water afterward
Check that the pill was swallowed
Ask a veterinarian for help if the dog refuses the pill
