How to Know if an Egg is Still Good?

Check the expiration or “best by” date

Look for cracks, leaks, or unusual slime on the shell

Do the float test in a bowl of water

Crack the egg into a separate bowl and check for a bad smell

Inspect the egg white and yolk for unusual color or texture

Trust any sour, sulfur-like, or rotten odor

Discard eggs that have been left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours

Discard eggs that were refrigerated but show signs of spoilage

When in doubt, throw it out
