1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 to 2 cups sliced strawberries
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Combine water and sugar in a saucepan
Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves
Add strawberries and lemon juice
Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes
Stir occasionally
Remove from heat
Mash strawberries lightly if desired
Strain for a smooth syrup or leave as is
Cool before using
Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator
