Sit in the operator seat
Fasten the seat belt if equipped
Make sure the parking brake is engaged
Set the PTO/blade switch to off
Move the drive controls to neutral or park
Set the throttle to the recommended starting position
Set the choke if the engine is cold
Insert the key or use the start control
Turn the key to start or press the start button
Release the key or button once the engine starts
Gradually move the choke off as the engine warms up
Check that the engine is running smoothly before moving the mower
