Choose a new pot with drainage holes that is 1 to 2 inches larger than the current pot
Fill the bottom of the new pot with fresh, well-draining potting mix
Water the spider plant lightly before removing it from the old pot
Gently loosen the plant from the pot and support the base as you lift it out
Shake off excess old soil and separate crowded roots if needed
Trim any dead, damaged, or overly long roots with clean scissors
Place the plant in the new pot at the same soil level as before
Add potting mix around the roots and press lightly to secure the plant
Water thoroughly until excess water drains out
Place the plant in bright, indirect light
Keep the soil slightly moist for the first few weeks
Avoid fertilizing for about 4 to 6 weeks after transplanting
