Choose a pot with drainage holes
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix
Water the aloe lightly a day before transplanting if the soil is very dry
Gently remove the plant from its current pot
Loosen the roots carefully
Remove any dead, damaged, or rotten roots
Select a new pot only slightly larger than the root ball
Place a layer of potting mix in the new pot
Position the aloe at the same depth it was growing before
Fill in around the roots with potting mix
Do not bury the leaves or crown
Press the soil lightly to secure the plant
Wait a few days before watering after transplanting
Place the plant in bright, indirect light
Resume normal watering only when the soil is completely dry
Avoid overwatering after transplanting
Keep the plant stable until it re-establishes
Separate and replant offsets if desired during transplanting
