See a dermatologist for an evaluation before removing any mole
Do not try to cut, burn, freeze, or scrape off a mole at home
Have the mole checked if it is new, changing, irregular, itchy, bleeding, or painful
Use surgical excision for suspicious or bothersome moles
Use shave removal for raised benign moles when appropriate
Use punch excision for smaller moles when appropriate
Use laser treatment only for selected benign lesions and only under medical guidance
Follow all aftercare instructions from the clinician
Keep the area clean and covered as directed
Watch for signs of infection, bleeding, or poor healing
Seek urgent medical care if the mole changes rapidly or looks cancerous
