Trim the stems
Place basil in a glass or jar with a little water
Cover the leaves loosely with a plastic bag
Keep at room temperature
Change the water every 1 to 2 days
Avoid refrigerating fresh basil if possible
For longer storage, freeze basil leaves
You can also blend basil with oil and freeze it in ice cube trays
Dry basil completely before storing in the fridge or freezer
Store dried basil in an airtight container away from heat and light
