Turn off the water and clear the shower floor
Remove the drain cover or grate
Unscrew any visible drain screws
Insert a drain removal tool or drain wrench into the drain opening
Turn the drain counterclockwise to loosen it
Lift the drain out once it is free
If it is stuck, apply penetrating oil and wait
Use pliers or a drain extractor if needed
Clean any remaining sealant or debris from the opening
