Start with a clean, dry eyelid
Apply eyeshadow primer if desired
Choose an eyeliner type: pencil, gel, liquid, or felt-tip
Rest your elbow on a stable surface
Look slightly downward into a mirror
Gently pull the outer corner of the eye taut
Draw small dots or short dashes along the upper lash line
Connect the dots with short strokes
Keep the line thin near the inner corner
Make the line thicker toward the outer corner if desired
For a wing, extend the line outward at the outer corner
Connect the wing back to the lash line
Fill in any gaps
Repeat on the other eye
Keep both sides even
Tighten the look by lining the waterline if desired
Use a cotton swab or makeup remover to clean mistakes
Set with eyeshadow if needed
Finish with mascara
