Shuffle the deck and deal the cards evenly to all players
Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile
Flip the top card to start the discard pile
On your turn, play a card that matches the suit, rank, or symbol of the top discard card
If you cannot play, draw a card from the draw pile
If the drawn card can be played, you may play it immediately
Continue taking turns clockwise
Follow any special card effects if your version of Pips includes them
Keep playing until one player has no cards left
That player wins the game
