How To Replace A Toilet Flange?

Turn off the water supply to the toilet

Flush the toilet to empty the tank and bowl

Disconnect the water supply line

Remove the toilet mounting bolts

Lift the toilet straight up and set it aside

Scrape away the old wax ring from the flange and toilet base

Inspect the flange for cracks, rust, or damage

Remove any screws or fasteners securing the old flange

Cut or chisel away the old flange if it is glued or damaged

Clean the pipe opening and surrounding floor area

Dry-fit the new flange to confirm proper size and fit

Install the new flange on the drain pipe

Secure the flange to the subfloor with corrosion-resistant screws

Ensure the flange sits level and at the correct height

Install a new wax ring or wax-free seal on the toilet

Set the toilet back onto the flange and align the bolt holes

Press the toilet down evenly to seat the seal

Install and tighten the closet bolts evenly

Reconnect the water supply line

Turn the water supply back on

Flush the toilet and check for leaks

Caulk around the base if desired, leaving a gap at the back if needed
