Put on gloves and clear the area around the drain
Remove the drain cover or stopper
Insert the snake into the drain opening
Push the snake in until you feel resistance
Turn the handle clockwise while applying gentle forward pressure
Work the snake through the clog
Pull the snake back slightly and push forward again if needed
Continue turning and advancing until the clog breaks up or hooks onto the snake
Slowly pull the snake out of the drain
Remove any debris from the snake
Run hot water to flush the drain
Repeat if the drain is still slow
Clean the snake after use and replace the drain cover or stopper
