Shut down the computer
Unplug the power cable
Remove the battery if it is a laptop with a removable battery
Press and hold the power button for 10 to 30 seconds
Open the case or access the motherboard if needed
Find the CMOS battery on the motherboard
Remove the CMOS battery for 5 to 10 minutes
Reinsert the CMOS battery
Reconnect the battery and power cable
Turn on the computer
Enter BIOS setup
Load default BIOS settings
Save and exit BIOS
Use the motherboard CMOS reset jumper if available
Use the BIOS reset button if your system has one
