Choose green coffee beans
Preheat a coffee roaster, oven, skillet, or popcorn popper
Measure the beans
Add the beans to the roasting device
Stir or agitate the beans for even roasting
Watch for color changes from green to yellow to brown
Listen for the first crack
Continue roasting to the desired level
Watch for second crack if darker roast is desired
Remove the beans from heat
Cool the beans quickly
Let the beans rest for 12 to 24 hours
Store the roasted beans in an airtight container
Grind and brew when ready
