Use a diamond or netherite pickaxe to mine obsidian
Place 4 obsidian blocks vertically for one side
Place 4 obsidian blocks vertically for the other side
Connect the tops and bottoms with 2 obsidian blocks each
Leave the inside empty
Light the inside with flint and steel
Enter the activated portal to travel to the Nether
