Turn on both iPhones and place them near each other
Make sure both devices are connected to Wi-Fi and have enough battery
Update both iPhones to the latest iOS version if possible
On the new iPhone, start the setup process
Place the old iPhone near the new iPhone
Use Quick Start when the prompt appears on the old iPhone
Scan the animation on the new iPhone with the old iPhone
Enter the old iPhone passcode on the new iPhone
Set up Face ID or Touch ID on the new iPhone
Choose Transfer from iPhone to move data directly
Keep both iPhones close together until the transfer finishes
Sign in to your Apple ID on the new iPhone if prompted
Wait for apps, photos, messages, and settings to finish syncing
If needed, restore from an iCloud backup instead
If needed, transfer data using a Mac or PC backup and restore
Check that contacts, photos, apps, and messages transferred correctly
Remove the old iPhone from your Apple ID if you are done using it
