Wear gloves and eye protection
Turn off the device and remove the batteries
Dispose of leaking or damaged batteries properly
Wipe away loose corrosion with a dry cloth or brush
Mix baking soda with a small amount of water
Dip a cotton swab or toothbrush in the mixture
Gently scrub the corroded contacts
Wipe the area with a clean damp cloth
Dry the contacts completely
Clean stubborn residue with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab
Let everything air dry before reinstalling batteries
Replace the batteries with new ones
Check for damage before using the device again
