Find sugar cane growing near water or in desert/oasis areas
Break the sugar cane blocks to collect sugar cane items
Craft or gather a hoe if you want to prepare a farm area
Place dirt, sand, or grass blocks in a row
Place water directly next to the blocks
Plant sugar cane on top of the blocks that are adjacent to water
Make sure each sugar cane plant has water beside it
Leave space above each plant so it can grow upward
Wait for the sugar cane to grow naturally
Break the upper sugar cane sections when harvesting
Keep the bottom block intact so it regrows
Use bone meal only if your version or server allows it
Expand the farm by repeating the same water-and-plant pattern
Use pistons or observers for an automatic sugar cane farm if desired
