Right-click the app, file, or shortcut
Select Pin to taskbar
If you do not see it, open the app first
Right-click the app icon on the taskbar
Select Pin to taskbar
For a file or folder, create a shortcut first
Right-click the shortcut
Select Pin to taskbar
On Windows 11, you may need to use Show more options first
To unpin, right-click the taskbar icon
Select Unpin from taskbar
