How To Hold A Golf Club?

Place the club head on the ground behind the ball.

Hold the grip with your lead hand (left hand for right-handed golfers; right hand for left-handed golfers).

Position your lead-hand thumb so it points down the grip.

Wrap your lead-hand fingers firmly around the grip.

Place your trail hand below the lead hand on the grip.

Align the trail-hand thumb with the grip and keep the trail-hand fingers wrapped firmly.

Choose a grip style: interlock, overlap (Vardon), or baseball grip.

Ensure the V formed by thumb and index finger points toward your trail shoulder (or slightly inside it).

Keep both palms facing generally toward your target.

Maintain a neutral wrist position as you grip (not cocked or bent sharply).

Set your grip pressure to be firm but not tight.

Avoid gripping the club with only the fingers; use the whole hand.

Check that the club rests in the fingers (not the palm) for better control.

Ensure the clubface is square to your target line at address.
