How To Make Upma?

Heat 2 tablespoons oil or ghee in a pan

Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds and let them splutter

Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Add 1 tablespoon chana dal and 1 tablespoon urad dal

Add a few curry leaves and 1 chopped green chili

Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until soft

Add 1 cup semolina (rava/sooji) and roast on low heat until fragrant

In another pot, boil 2.5 cups water with salt

Slowly add the hot water to the roasted semolina while stirring continuously

Cook on low heat until the mixture thickens and the water is absorbed

Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well

Add lemon juice if desired

Serve hot
