Identify the settlor, trustees, and beneficiaries
Prepare the trust deed
Include the trust name, objectives, property details, trustee powers, beneficiary details, and rules for administration
Ensure the trust deed is signed by the settlor and trustees
Execute the trust deed on non-judicial stamp paper as per the applicable state stamp duty
Get the trust deed notarized, if required
Register the trust deed with the local Sub-Registrar or Registrar of Assurances, if registration is required
Pay the applicable registration fee
Obtain the trust registration certificate or registered deed copy
Apply for PAN of the trust
Open a bank account in the name of the trust
Apply for required tax registrations, such as 12A and 80G for charitable trusts, if eligible
Maintain proper books of accounts and records
Comply with applicable state and central laws governing trusts
