Identify the keyboard type: USB, wireless USB receiver, Bluetooth, or wired PS/2
For a USB keyboard, plug the USB cable into an available USB port on the laptop
For a wireless keyboard with a USB receiver, insert the receiver into a USB port on the laptop
Turn on the wireless keyboard if it has a power switch
For a Bluetooth keyboard, turn on Bluetooth on the laptop
Put the Bluetooth keyboard into pairing mode
Open the laptop’s Bluetooth settings
Select the keyboard from the available devices list
Enter the pairing code if prompted
Test the keyboard by typing in a text field
Install any required keyboard drivers if the laptop prompts for them
Replace or charge the keyboard batteries if it does not connect
Restart the laptop if the keyboard is not detected
Try a different USB port if the connection fails
