Press Shift + Command + 4
Drag to select the area you want to capture
Release the mouse or trackpad to take the snip
Press Shift + Command + 4, then press Spacebar to capture a window
Click the window to snip it
Press Shift + Command + 5 to open screenshot options
Choose the capture type from the on-screen toolbar
Press Shift + Command + 6 to capture the Touch Bar on supported Macs
Find saved snips on the desktop by default
Use Control with the shortcut to copy the snip to the clipboard instead of saving it
