Power off the PC
Unplug the power cable
Press the power button for a few seconds to discharge residual power
Open the PC case
Ground yourself to avoid static electricity
Locate an available SSD slot or drive bay
For a SATA SSD, mount the SSD in the drive bay or bracket
For an M.2 SSD, locate the M.2 slot on the motherboard
Insert the M.2 SSD at an angle and secure it with the screw
Connect the SATA data cable to the SSD and motherboard if using a SATA SSD
Connect the SATA power cable from the power supply if using a SATA SSD
Reassemble the PC case
Plug the power cable back in
Turn on the PC
Enter BIOS or UEFI to confirm the SSD is detected
Install or clone the operating system if needed
Format and initialize the SSD in the operating system if it is a secondary drive
