How To Install Vented Dryer?

Turn off power to the dryer at the breaker

Move the dryer away from the wall

Check the dryer’s vent outlet location

Measure the distance to the exterior vent opening

Choose a vent path with the shortest, straightest route possible

Use rigid or semi-rigid metal ducting

Avoid plastic or foil vent hose

Attach the duct to the dryer exhaust outlet

Secure the connection with a metal clamp

Run the duct to the exterior vent opening

Keep the duct as straight as possible

Minimize bends and elbows

Seal duct joints with foil HVAC tape

Do not use screws that protrude into the duct

Install the exterior vent hood if needed

Make sure the exterior vent flap opens freely

Support the duct so it does not sag

Leave enough space behind the dryer for airflow

Push the dryer back into place carefully

Reconnect the power

Run the dryer on an air-only cycle

Check for strong airflow at the exterior vent

Inspect all connections for leaks or disconnections

Clean up any lint or debris around the installation
