Avoid seed mixes with lots of millet or corn
Clean up spilled seed regularly
Use a separate squirrel feeder away from the bird feeder
Apply a squirrel repellent designed for bird feeders
Trim nearby branches and access points
Bring feeders in at night if needed
Use a feeder with a cage that allows small birds in but blocks squirrels
Reposition the feeder if squirrels are jumping to it
Check and maintain baffles, poles, and mounts regularly
