Preheat the oven to 400°F
Wash the spaghetti squash
Cut the squash in half lengthwise
Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp
Brush the cut sides with oil
Sprinkle with salt if desired
Place the halves cut-side down on a baking sheet
Pierce the skin with a fork if needed
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes
Check for doneness by piercing the skin with a fork
Remove from the oven
Let cool for a few minutes
Scrape the flesh with a fork to form strands
