Wash the sweet potatoes
Peel them if desired
Cut them into even pieces
Boil water in a pot
Add the sweet potatoes to the boiling water
Cook until tender
Drain the water
Mash with butter, salt, and milk if making mashed sweet potatoes
Or roast with oil and seasoning if making roasted sweet potatoes
Or bake whole at 400°F until soft
Serve warm
