Convert the percentage to a decimal by dividing by 100
Multiply the decimal by the number you want the percentage of
Formula: Percentage amount = (percentage ÷ 100) × total
Example: 20% of 50 = (20 ÷ 100) × 50 = 10
To find what percent one number is of another, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100
Formula: Percent = (part ÷ whole) × 100
Example: 10 out of 50 = (10 ÷ 50) × 100 = 20%
