Remove the foil or capsule from the top
Unfold the corkscrew
Center the screw on the cork
Twist the screw into the cork
Keep twisting until the screw is mostly in
Place the lever or fulcrum on the bottle lip if using a waiter’s corkscrew
Pull the cork out slowly and steadily
Remove the cork from the screw
Wipe the bottle neck if needed
Pour the wine carefully
