Clear the room and cover furniture and floors with drop cloths

Clean the ceiling to remove dust, cobwebs, and stains
Repair cracks, holes, and peeling areas
Sand patched areas smooth
Apply painter’s tape along edges and trim
Use a stain-blocking primer if needed
Choose a paint suitable for ceilings
Load a roller with an extension pole
Start at one corner and work in small sections
Roll in overlapping, even strokes
Keep a wet edge to avoid lap marks
Use a brush for edges and tight areas
Apply a second coat if needed after drying
Remove tape before the paint fully cures
Clean tools and remove coverings after drying
