Check that the vinyl siding is in good condition and suitable for painting
Choose a 100% acrylic exterior paint made for vinyl
Select a vinyl-safe color, usually a lighter shade than the original siding
Clean the siding thoroughly with soap and water or a siding cleaner
Remove dirt, mildew, chalk, and loose paint
Rinse the siding completely and let it dry fully
Repair any damaged panels, cracks, or loose sections
Protect windows, doors, plants, and nearby surfaces with drop cloths and painter’s tape
Use a brush, roller, or paint sprayer designed for exterior use
Apply a bonding primer only if recommended by the paint manufacturer
Paint in calm, dry weather within the recommended temperature range
Apply thin, even coats
Let the first coat dry completely before applying a second coat
Paint all visible areas, including edges and trim, for a uniform finish
Avoid painting in direct hot sun if possible
Avoid dark colors that may cause the vinyl to warp from heat
Inspect the finished surface for missed spots or uneven coverage
Clean up tools immediately after painting
Follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions for drying and curing times
