Measure the area and calculate how much artificial turf, underlay, edging, and joining tape you need
Mow the existing grass as short as possible
Remove weeds, rocks, sticks, and debris
Mark the area and remove any obstacles
Lay a weed membrane over the grass
Add a thin layer of sharp sand or crushed stone if needed for leveling
Compact and level the surface thoroughly
Install edging around the perimeter to hold the turf in place
Roll out the artificial turf and let it settle
Cut the turf to fit the area using a sharp utility knife
Position the turf so the pile direction matches across all pieces
Join seams with joining tape and adhesive
Secure the turf with landscape pins or nails around the edges and seams
Brush the turf fibers upright with a stiff broom
Add infill if required by the turf type
Check for wrinkles, gaps, and loose edges
Water lightly and brush again to help the turf settle
