Plan the walkway layout and mark the path with stakes and string
Check local codes and call utility marking services before digging
Measure the area and calculate the number of pavers, base material, and sand needed
Remove grass, soil, and debris to the required depth
Excavate the area to allow for paver thickness, base, and sand
Compact the subgrade with a plate compactor
Install edging restraints along both sides of the walkway
Spread and level crushed stone base material in layers
Compact each base layer thoroughly
Add a layer of bedding sand and screed it level
Lay the pavers in the chosen pattern
Cut pavers as needed to fit edges and curves
Install edge pavers and secure them
Sweep jointing sand into the gaps between pavers
Compact the pavers again to settle them
Add more jointing sand and repeat until joints are full
Clean off excess sand from the surface
Check for levelness and make final adjustments
Water the walkway lightly if using polymeric sand, following product instructions
