Rack the balls with the 8 ball in the center
Break the rack with the cue ball
After the break, determine your group by the first ball legally pocketed
One player takes solids and the other takes stripes
Pocket only your assigned group of balls
Call your shot if required by the rules you are using
Keep shooting after every legal pocketed ball
If you fail to pocket a ball, your turn ends
If you pocket the cue ball, it is a scratch and your turn ends
If you pocket the 8 ball before clearing your group, you lose
After clearing all of your group, legally pocket the 8 ball to win
The 8 ball must be pocketed in the called pocket if called-shot rules apply
If you scratch on the 8 ball, you lose or the 8 ball is spotted depending on the rules used
