Turn on the TV and the device you want to control
Press and hold the Mute and Select buttons on the DIRECTV remote until the green light blinks twice
Enter the 5-digit code for your TV or device
Press the Power button to test the remote
If the TV turns off, the code worked
If it does not work, repeat the steps with a different code
To program the remote automatically, press and hold Mute and Select until the green light blinks twice
Enter 9 9 1
Press Channel Up repeatedly until the TV turns off
Press Select to lock in the code
To pair a Genie remote, press and hold the red reset button on the receiver if needed
Follow the on-screen prompts if your receiver asks to program the remote
Test volume, power, and channel buttons after programming
Replace the batteries if the remote does not respond
