Turn on the TV and the DIRECTV receiver
Find the remote model and the 5-digit TV code for your TV brand
Press and hold MUTE and SELECT until the light flashes twice
Enter the 5-digit TV code
Press POWER to test the TV
If the TV turns off, press SELECT to save the code
If the TV does not respond, repeat with the next TV code
To reprogram for the receiver, press and hold MUTE and SELECT until the light flashes twice
Enter 981 to reset the remote if needed
Press and hold MUTE and SELECT again until the light flashes twice
Enter 961 to search for the receiver code if the remote is not working
Follow the on-screen prompts if the receiver asks for pairing
Test volume, power, and input controls after programming
Replace the batteries if the remote still does not respond
