Turn on the device you want to control
Insert fresh batteries into the DirecTV remote
Find the remote model number on the back or inside the battery compartment
Press and hold MUTE and SELECT until the green light flashes twice
Enter the 5-digit code for your TV, soundbar, or other device
Press POWER to test the device
If the device turns off, press SELECT to save the code
If the device does not respond, repeat with another code
If using an older remote, press MUTE and SELECT until the light flashes twice, then enter the code
If your remote has a SETUP button, press and hold SETUP until the light stays on, then enter the code
If you do not have the code, use the remote’s code search function
Press MENU on the DirecTV receiver
Go to Settings and Help
Select Settings
Select Remote Control
Choose Program Remote
Follow the on-screen prompts
Test volume, power, and input functions after programming
Repeat the process for each device you want to control
