Gather a curtain rod, brackets, screws, wall anchors, drill, level, tape measure, pencil, and screwdriver
Measure the window width and decide the rod placement
Mark the bracket positions on both sides of the window
Use a level to make sure the marks are even
Drill pilot holes at the marked spots
Insert wall anchors if needed
Attach the brackets to the wall with screws
Place the curtain rod onto the brackets
Hang the curtains on the rod
Secure the rod according to the bracket design
Check that the rod is level and stable
Adjust if needed
